Betsy Cronkite also had a professional career in journalism, and so my grandfather’s correspondence with her should be read not only as letters to his wife but also as letters to a fellow reporter. She attended the University of Missouri School of Journalism and found a job at Kansas City’s KCMO radio station as an advertising writer.
