This ebook constitutes the completely refereed complaints of the second one overseas Symposium on Data-Driven technique Discovery and research held in Campione d'Italia, Italy, in June 2012.

The six revised complete papers have been rigorously chosen from 17 submissions. to enhance the standard of the contributions the symposium fostered the dialogue in the course of the presentation, giving authors the chance to enhance their paintings extending the provided effects. the chosen papers disguise issues spanning from theoretical concerns regarding approach illustration, discovery and research to sensible and operational reviews in procedure discovery and analysis.

Parra, and J. Alvarado ERP. This makes the process inefficient, as only 32% of orders are delivered within 1 month, which is the user expected time. The users (professors, research and administrative staff) frequently present complaints about delays and excessive paperwork in the process. Although professors must make purchases for research projects having 1 or 2 year time frames, the purchase of an imported good may take more than 6 months, which certainly impacts the schedule of these projects. Process Scope and Stakeholder Identification Figure 4 shows the process scope diagram, where it can be seen that the main input is the requisition made by departments and areas of the university.

Process mining components Table 1 details the organizational enhancement possibilities offered by process mining through its three components. For its part, Business Process Simulation provides techniques for testing solutions before their actual implementation.

Figure 2 shows the possible operators of a process tree and their translation to a Petri net. A process tree contains operator nodes and leaf nodes. An operator node specifies the relation between its children. Possible operators are sequence (→), parallel execution (∧), exclusive choice (×), non-exclusive choice (∨) and loop execution ( ). The order of the children matters for the sequence and loop operators. The order of the children of a sequence operator specifies the order in which the children are executed (from left to right).
