Preparation of the draft policy and transition from draft to final policy At this stage all the ideas which have arisen in the consultation stage need to be pulled together to form a draft document.

You should aim to convince these people that schools can reduce bullying and that it is worthwhile investing time and resources in doing so. 1: ‘DEFINING BULLYING’ Aims The purpose of the first part of the activity is to allow individuals to identify for themselves the key features which they personally use to define bullying. The second part of the activity, the group discussion, aims to enable participants to express, and possibly challenge, their attitudes and values about bullying behaviour.

The aim of the QC is to involve pupils—from 7 years upwards—in devising practical solutions to the problem of bullying. Each QC will consist of between five and twelve pupils. The younger the pupils, the smaller the QC should be. One class of thirty pupils could be divided into five QCs. You will need to make your own decisions about whether pupils can choose who is in their QC or not. How much time does it take? Once pupils have formed a QC, it can run indefinitely—meeting once a week throughout each term.
