It is in the interaction between this plurality that new possibilities emerge, which we could never have imagined in isolation. Settler colonialism cannot imagine its own end, though it continually fantasises about it. We know then that its transformation can only come from beyond itself—we ourselves sense that we have exhausted the utility of unilateral, predetermined goals that will orient us in the ‘right’ direction.
