The Server Manager dashboard opens by default (see Figure 2-13). Server Manager has a tile-based interface refreshed from Server 2008 R2. Server Manager and other components of the full desktop interface are explored in more depth in Chapter 3.
If you prefer the full GUI and have the hardware resources, consider the Server with a GUI install mode, or the Minimal Server Interface option for a hybrid of GUI and PowerShell. Or, if you really want a customized management environment, explore the Features on Demand capability, which will allow you to pick the graphical tools you want to use within the core interface. Server 2012 is remarkably flexible in installation and setup options, more so than in legacy versions. Use that flexibility to your advantage to maximize management effi‐ ciency!
Now, select how you want to partition drives and the location to install Server 2012, as shown in Figure 2-6. Typically, most server administrators will create a system partition for loading the server operating system.
