It can’t be” moment when reality fi rst dawns on you. It’s the reason for writing this chapter. And this book. Fortunately, Gene does not disappoint. He gives us Minor Wound. Minor Wound captures perfectly the denial described by KüblerRoss. Here, we see a soldier who has sustained some type of wound in combat. It’s not serious, but he doesn’t know it yet. All he knows is that he’s been injured. He hurts. He may be dying. And the look on his face tells us exactly what he’s thinking: This ain’t happening.
